Danny McCormick, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the Division of Social and Community Medicine and Director of Research in the Department of Medicine at the Cambridge Health Alliance. A board-certified practicing general internist and health services researcher, Dr. McCormick’s research focuses primarily on health care financing, health care reform and access to and quality of care for underserved patient populations (the uninsured, racial and ethnic minorities, immigrants, prisoners and veterans, e.g.). Other research interests include the impact of industry funding on the design of pharmaceutical studies, physician financial conflicts of interest, physician workforce diversity and roles and funding of safety-net hospitals in the US healthcare system. He currently holds grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) that support his work. Dr. McCormick is a past recipient of the A. Clifford Barger Award for excellence in mentoring at Harvard Medical School and the Academic Council Award for scholarship and teaching at the Cambridge Health Alliance. He also served as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellow at the Institute of Medicine in Washington, DC and as a staff member of United States Senate Committee on Health Education Labor and Pensions.
